Viewing the Mississippi While Standing on the Riverbank in Minnesota-

As I stood by the banks of the Mississippi from the shore in Minneapolis, MN, I thought about how very far this flow had to move to reach it's destination in the Gulf of Mexico.  It will make quite a trip...over rocks, under bridges, under people who are traveling over it without noticing it's presence, through narrow places that cause it to speed along, then through wide, deep places that cause it to appear calm and easy.  It travels because of momentum behind it, without a plan, nurturing life along the way just by being itself.  There will be violent passageways and placid rests... all making up the journey.   From this vantage point, way up north, I can't see what is ahead... as the river moves unknowingly into it's journey.
Along the way it will frolic, laugh, sing, and shout out before the Lord.
What a lovely picture of the long journey to the gulf... one we can only imagine as we frolic, laugh, sing, and shout out before the Lord.
