Water...in the wilderness, at the well, along the way

In Exodus, the Israelites, after being freed from Egypt through a miracle, quickly forgot how God provided for them.  They were thirsty and cried out for water.  Moses asked God what he should do with these complaining people.  God instructed him to strike the rock with his staff.  When he obeyed, water ran forth for everyone to drink.
In John 4 a woman from Samaria meets Jesus at Jacob's well.  He offers her "Living Water".  She finds him to be sincere, compassionate, and safe... She believes him when he declares to her that he is the Messiah.  He, himself, is the Water that is being offered to her.

Earthly water does not satisfy...tomorrow you are thirsty again.
Earthly food does not satisfy... tomorrow you will be hungry again.
Today's clothes, activities, money... all require more in the future for satisfaction.
Earthly provisions are temporary... but Living Water...
...Living Water sustains...Living Water is for the soul... when you receive it, your spirit is satisfied.
This Water from God comes to us in the wilderness, at the well... places where we are going, where we find ourselves, our ordinary "stomping ground" where we do our chores and work and play.
It's for everyone...
the complaining Israelites... those who doubt if God will provide... a person who is judged by their commmunity... an outsider...
for ANYONE WHO IS THIRSTY AND IS WILLING TO RECEIVE.
Are you thirsty?
